What to Expect after your treatment?

Neuromodulators/Wrinkle relaxers. What to Expect?

If you’re considering a neuromodulator treatment, you might be wondering what recovery looks like and how quickly you'll see results.

Most people focus on the outcome, smoother skin, fewer lines, and a refreshed look. And while the results are definitely worth getting excited about, it’s just as important to know what to expect immediately after your treatment and in the days that follow.

The great news? Neuromodulators like Botox, Xeomin or Daxxify are minimally invasive, meaning there’s little to no downtime. But understanding the full process can help ease any nerves and ensure you get the best results.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through what you can expect from your neuromodulator recovery—before, during, and after.

What Are Neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators are injectable treatments designed to soften fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles that cause them. They’re most commonly used to treat areas like the forehead, frown lines (11s), and crow’s feet around the eyes.

At Dr.B Medspa, we use high-quality, FDA-approved products to deliver natural, refreshed results, never frozen or overdone.

How Do They Work?

When injected into specific facial muscles, neuromodulators block the nerve signals that trigger movement. As the muscle relaxes, the skin above it becomes

smoother, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated expressions.

It takes just a few minutes to administer and is often called a "lunchtime treatment" because there's no significant recovery period.

What to Know Before Your Appointment

Even though the treatment is quick, there are a few things you can do beforehand to make sure everything goes smoothly:

  1. Avoid blood-thinning supplements (like fish oils, garlic, vitamin E) for a few days before your appointment to reduce the chance of bruising.
  2. Skip alcohol for 24 hours before your session.
  3. Hold off on aspirin or ibuprofen unless prescribed, these can increase bruising
  4. Try to arrive with a clean face (no  makeup) if possible.
  5. Let your provider know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any neuromuscular conditions.

Right After Your Neuromodulator Treatment

The treatment itself is quick and relatively painless, with only minor discomfort during injection. Afterward, you may notice:

  1. Small red bumps or slight swelling at the injection sites (these usually fade within 15–30 minutes).
  2. Mild tenderness or a “tight” feeling in the treated areas.
  3. Possible pinpoint bruising in more sensitive areas.

To support the best outcome:

  1. Avoid touching or massaging the treated areas for at least 4–6 hours.
  2. Skip makeup for the rest of the day if  possible.
  3. Stay upright for 4 hours post-treatment, no lying down or napping.
  4. Postpone strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.
  5. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, or facials for the next 48 hours.

When Will You See Results?

Results don’t appear instantly. Here’s a typical timeline:

  1. Days 1–3: You may not see much change yet, which is totally normal.
  2. Days 4–7: You’ll begin to notice a gradual smoothing of lines and a more relaxed appearance.
  3. Days 7–14: Full effects are visible, and your results will look their best.
  4. Weeks  3–4: Everything should feel natural, and muscle movement will be reduced just enough to prevent  wrinkles while still allowing expression.

How Long Do Results Last?

Most patients enjoy their results for 3 to 4 months, although this can vary depending on the product used and individual muscle activity. With consistent treatments, results tend to last longer over time.

Is There Any Downtime?

Not really. You can go back to most normal activities right away. The key is to follow the simple post-care instructions and avoid anything that could shift the product while it’s settling in.

Biostimulators. What to Expect?

Considering biostimulators for skin rejuvenation and wondering about the recovery process?

Biostimulators are an excellent option for those looking to stimulate collagen production and restore volume to the skin naturally. While the results can be incredibly rejuvenating, understanding what to expect during recovery is important to ensure you get the best possible outcome.

At Dr.B Medspa, we prioritize making your experience as comfortable and effective as possible. The recovery process after a biostimulator treatment is generally straightforward, but some preparation and aftercare will ensure optimal results.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the recovery timeline, from right after your treatment to the final results.

What Are Biostimulators?

Biostimulators are injectable treatments that work by stimulating your body’s own collagen production. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which provide immediate volume, biostimulators take time to work by gradually enhancing your skin’s natural structure and elasticity.

At Dr.B Medspa, we use high-quality biostimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse, which stimulate long-lasting collagen production, improving the overall texture and appearance of the skin.

How Do Biostimulators Work?

When injected into targeted areas, biostimulators encourage your body to produce more collagen—the protein that gives your skin structure, elasticity, and firmness. Over time, this leads to a smoother, more youthful appearance.

While results aren’t immediate (since collagen takes time to develop), the effects are subtle and natural, with improvements becoming visible over several weeks to months.

What to Know Before Your Appointment

Proper preparation is essential to achieving the best results. Here’s what to keep in mind before your biostimulator treatment:

  1. Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oils, and alcohol for 48 hours before your appointment to minimize bruising.
  2. Make sure you’re not having any dental work, vaccines, or other injectable treatments within 2 weeks of your biostimulator appointment.
  3. Arrive with clean skin (no makeup).
  4. Inform us if you have any allergies or skin conditions, as this could influence your treatment plan.

Immediately After Your Biostimulator Treatment

Right after the treatment, you may experience some minor side effects. These are common and should subside quickly:

  1. Swelling  and redness around the injection sites
  2. Mild bruising in some cases
  3. A  feeling of fullness or tightness in the treated areas

While the effects of biostimulators aren’t immediately visible, you may notice a slight improvement in skin texture and a healthy glow in the days following your treatment.

To support your recovery:

  1. Apply ice packs to reduce swelling (10-minute intervals).
  2. Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, or heat treatments for 48 hours.
  3. Sleep with your head elevated the first night.

When Will I See Results?

The results from biostimulators develop gradually as collagen is produced. Here’s a typical timeline:

  1. Weeks  1–2: Initial swelling and any bruising should subside.
  2. Weeks  3–6: The first noticeable improvements will start to appear as  collagen production begins.
  3. Weeks  6–12: Full effects will become more evident, with smoother, firmer skin and a more youthful appearance.

It may take several months for the full benefits to show, but the results last much longer than traditional fillers—up to 2 years or more, depending on the area treated.

How Long Do Biostimulators Last?

The effects of biostimulators can last up to 2 years, depending on factors such as the area treated, your skin’s natural collagen production, and lifestyle habits. Some people may require touch-up treatments to maintain the effects.

Is There Any Downtime?

Most patients can return to their normal

activities right after the treatment. The recovery is minimal, though mild swelling or bruising may take a few days to fully resolve.

Ready to Boost Your Collagen and Rejuvenate Your Skin?

If you’re ready to stimulate collagen production and achieve long-lasting skin rejuvenation, a biostimulator treatment at Dr.B Medspa might be just what you need. Book your consultation today, and we’ll help you design a treatment plan that’s tailored to your skin and your goals.

PDO Lifting Threads. What to Expect?

Thinking about getting a thread lift and wondering what recovery might be like?

Most people are focused on the end goal, what kind of results can I expect? Will I look younger, fresher, more lifted? While those are exciting questions, it’s just as important to understand what happens after the treatment. Even though thread lifts are minimally invasive, a smooth recovery plays a key role in getting the best outcome.

It’s natural to feel a bit unsure about the healing process, but the good news is that recovery is typically straightforward and manageable. Since thread lifts are non-surgical, the downtime is minimal. And the more you know ahead of time, the more  confident and prepared you’ll feel.

What Exactly Is a Thread Lift?

The face is often the first area to show signs of aging, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity can all impact how you feel about your appearance. A thread lift offers a great alternative to surgical options by gently lifting and tightening the skin using dissolvable threads.

These threads are carefully placed just beneath the skin to subtly lift and smooth, restoring a more youthful and refreshed look.

This treatment can significantly enhance confidence by addressing areas like sagging skin, jowls, and creases around the face and neck.

How Does It Work?

During the procedure, threads are inserted  under the skin and gently pulled to lift targeted areas. At Dr.B Medspa, we use PDO (Polydioxanone) threads, which also stimulate collagen, an essential protein for maintaining firm, youthful skin.

As we age, collagen production slows down. These threads not only lift the skin but also encourage long-term rejuvenation through improved elasticity.

Things to Know Before Your Thread Lift

Even though recovery is relatively quick, it's still important to treat it like a medical procedure. Taking a little time to prepare beforehand can make your recovery even smoother.

Here are some pre-treatment tips:

  1. Refrain  from smoking and alcohol for at least 7 days before your appointment.
  2. Stay out of the sun, damaged skin can’t be treated.
  3. Avoid aspirin, vitamin E and D, garlic, fish oils, and multivitamins for 3 days pre-treatment.
  4. Skip  intense workouts and hot environments like saunas.
  5. Avoid  anything that might thin the blood to reduce bruising and support quick healing.

Immediately After the Treatment

You’ll likely notice some initial results straight away, although these won’t yet reflect your final look. It’s normal to experience minor bruising, swelling, or tenderness, and the treated area may feel numb due to local anesthesia.

To protect your results:

  1. Avoid exaggerated facial movements for the first 14 days.
  2. Apply ice packs and take over-the-counter pain relief if needed.

48 Hours After

As the anaesthesia wears off, your face may feel slightly odd or tight. You might have some lingering swelling or soreness, but these are typically mild.

Be extra gentle with your skin during this stage:

  1. Avoid applying makeup or touching the area too much.
  2. If your skin feels sensitive, don’t worry, it should settle quickly.
  3. Reach out to us anytime for aftercare advice or reassurance.

Weeks 1–2: Early Recovery

By the end of the first two weeks, most initial symptoms like swelling or minor dimpling should resolve. Any discomfort typically fades within the first 3–5 days,  and you’ll be able to return to your usual skincare routine.

Weeks 3–6: Visible Improvements Begin

At this stage, you can move your face freely again. The lifting and tightening effects will become more noticeable from around week 3 or 4 and continue to improve over the coming months.

Bruising and any minor puckering should now be fully resolved. If you have any concerns about your progress, we’re always here to help.

Weeks 6–12: Final Results Take Shape

By this point, your final results will be more apparent. Most patients enjoy their thread lift results for 12 to 18 months. If you’d like to extend the effects, maintenance treatments are available.

Ready to Book Your Consultation?

If you think a thread lift could be right for you, we’d love to meet you. Schedule your consultation at Dr.B Medspa, where we can talk through any questions you have about the treatment or recovery process.

Microneedling. What to Expect?

Microneedling is a popular treatment for improving skin texture, minimizing pores, reducing fine lines, and stimulating collagen, all with minimal downtime. While the results are totally worth it, knowing what to expect post-treatment helps you prepare and take care of your skin properly.

At Dr.B Medspa, we’re here to make your experience smooth and effective. This guide walks you through everything you need to know before and after microneedling so you can feel confident and excited about your treatment.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a non-invasive treatment that uses ultra-fine needles to  create micro-injuries in the skin. These tiny punctures stimulate your body’s natural healing response, resulting in increased collagen and elastin production.

The result? Firmer, smoother, more radiant skin with improved tone and texture. Microneedling can target concerns like acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven pigmentation.

How Does Microneedling Work?

During the treatment, a device with fine needles glides across your skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. This process encourages your body to generate new skin cells and build collagen from the inside out.

At Dr.B Medspa, we often pair microneedling with serums like hyaluronic acid, PRP or growth factors for enhanced  results. The treatment is safe, quick, and suitable for all skin types.

What to Know Before Your Appointment

Proper prep can enhance your results and minimize any irritation after the procedure. Here’s what to do (and avoid) before your microneedling session:

  1. Avoid retinol, exfoliants, and acids (like glycolic or salicylic) for at least 3 days before treatment
  2. Stay out of direct sun and avoid tanning
  3. Don’t schedule microneedling too close to major events—give your skin time to heal
  4. Let us know if you’re on any medications or have active skin concerns like cold sores or acne breakouts

Immediately After Your Microneedling  Treatment

Right after your session, your skin will feel warm and look pink or red—similar to a mild sunburn. This is completely normal and should begin to settle within 24–48 hours.

Here’s what to expect in the first few days:

  1. Day 1: Redness, sensitivity, tightness, and slight swelling
  2. Day 2–3: Pinkness may remain, skin may begin to feel dry or lightly flake
  3. Day 4–6: Skin begins to return to normal, with visible glow and improved texture

Post-care is key! Here are our top recovery tips:

  1. Use only gentle, hydrating products—no active ingredients
  2. Avoid makeup for the first 24–48 hours
  3. Keep your skin moisturized and protected from the sun
  4. Avoid intense exercise, saunas, and swimming for 48 hours
  5. Do not exfoliate or pick at your skin

When Will I See Results?

Most people start to see noticeable improvement in their skin tone and texture within 7–10 days. However, collagen production continues over the next several weeks, so your skin will keep improving for up to 6–8 weeks after your session.

For optimal results, we often recommend a series of 3–6 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on your skin goals.

How Long Do Results Last?

With a proper skincare routine and maintenance, the results from microneedling can last several months. You can extend your results by:

  1. Following a medical-grade skincare  routine
  2. Protecting  your skin from the sun
  3. Scheduling  maintenance treatments every 4–6 months

Is There Downtime?

One of the biggest perks of microneedling is the minimal downtime. While your skin may be a bit sensitive and red for a couple of days, most people return to work or daily life the next day. Just be gentle with your skin and follow the aftercare instructions closely.

Dermal Fillers. What to Expect?

Dermal fillers are a fantastic way to restore volume, enhance your features, and achieve a more youthful appearance without surgery. While most people are focused on the beautiful, instant results, knowing what to expect during recovery is key to getting the most out of your treatment.

At Dr.B Medspa, we want you to feel informed and confident every step of the way. The good news? Recovery from fillers is typically quick and easy, but a little prep and aftercare go a long way.

This guide walks you through everything you need to know before and after your dermal filler appointment so you know what to expect from start to finish.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to plump up areas that have lost volume or developed lines and wrinkles due to aging. They're commonly used in areas like the lips, cheeks, jawline, chin, and under the eyes.

At Dr.B Medspa, we use high-quality, hyaluronic acid-based fillers that not only restore volume but also hydrate the skin from within, giving you a refreshed and natural look.

How Do Fillers Work?

As we age, we naturally lose collagen, elastin, and fat in the face, which can lead to hollowing, sagging, and deep lines. Fillers work by replenishing that lost volume and enhancing facial contours.

Once injected, the filler instantly adds  structure and volume to the targeted areas. Results are visible immediately, although final results settle in over the following days.

What to Know Before Your Appointment

To minimize swelling and bruising and ensure the best outcome, here are a few things to keep in mind before your treatment:

  1. Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
  2. Refrain from dental work, vaccines, or other injectables within two weeks before or after filler.
  3. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup if possible.
  4. Let us know if you have any history of cold sores—antiviral medication may be recommended to prevent a flare-up.

Right After Your Filler Appointment

After your treatment, you’ll see immediate results, but don’t worry if you also notice some swelling or small lumps. This is completely normal and part of the healing process.

Here’s what to expect:

  1. Mild swelling, tenderness, or redness at the injection sites for 1–3 days
  2. Occasional bruising, which varies from person to person
  3. A “full” feeling or tightness in the treated area, especially in lips or cheeks

To help with recovery:

  1. Apply an ice pack (gently) in 10-minute intervals to reduce swelling
  2. Sleep with your head elevated the first night
  3. Avoid touching or massaging the area unless instructed
  4. Skip  intense workouts, saunas, and alcohol for 24–48 hours

When Will I See Final Results?

While you’ll notice changes right away, your final results will begin to settle in after about a week as swelling goes down. Here's a basic timeline:

  1. Day  1–3: Swelling and minor bruising may be present

  2. Day 4–7: Most side effects begin to subside, and the filler integrates with your tissue

  3. Week 2: Everything should be fully settled—this is when we recommend a  follow-up, if needed

How Long Do Fillers Last?

Depending on the area treated and the type of filler used, results can last 6 to 18 months. Areas with more movement (like  lips) may metabolize faster than others (like cheeks or jawline).

Regular touch-ups can help maintain your look and avoid a complete reversal to your pre-filler state.

Is There Downtime?

Not really! Most people go back to work or daily life right after their appointment. Minor bruising or swelling can be easily covered with makeup after 24 hours.

Upper/Lower Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty). What to Expect?

Thinking about blepharoplasty and wondering what the recovery will be like?

Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a highly effective procedure for rejuvenating tired, droopy eyes. Whether you’re looking to correct sagging upper eyelids or reduce puffiness in the lower lids, this procedure can give your eyes a refreshed, youthful appearance. But just like with any surgical procedure, understanding the recovery process is key.

At Dr.B Medspa, we prioritize your safety, comfort, and results. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about blepharoplasty recovery—from the moment you leave our clinic to when you see your final results.

What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that

targets the upper or lower eyelids (or both). It can help with:

  1. Removing excess skin that droops over the upper eyelids
  2. Reducing puffiness or “bags” under the eyes
  3. Correcting fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
  4. Improving vision obstructed by sagging eyelids

At Dr.B Medspa, we offer customized blepharoplasty options to ensure you achieve natural-looking, balanced results.

How Does Blepharoplasty Work?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Our skilled surgeon makes tiny, well-hidden incisions along the natural creases of the eyelids. Through these incisions, excess skin, fat, and muscle are carefully removed or repositioned to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.

What to Know Before Your Surgery

Proper preparation is essential for a smooth recovery. Here’s what you can do before your blepharoplasty:

  1. Arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure.
  2. Stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery—it can delay healing.
  3. Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (like aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, or fish oils) for 1–2 weeks before your surgery.
  4. Make sure you have cold compresses, clean gauze, prescribed medications, and comfortable clothing ready for your recovery.
  5. Remove all eye makeup before arriving for your procedure.

Right After Your Blepharoplasty It’s normal to experience:

  1. Mild discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed pain medication
  2. Swelling and bruising around the eyes, which is most noticeable during the first week
  3. Watery eyes, light sensitivity, or mild itching
  4. Temporary blurred vision due to ointment applied during surgery

To ensure a smooth recovery:

  1. Apply cold compresses for the first 48 hours (10–15 minutes at a time, with breaks).
  2. Keep your head elevated, even while sleeping, to reduce swelling.
  3. Use prescribed eye drops or ointment as directed.
  4. Avoid rubbing your eyes, bending over, or performing strenuous activities.

Your Recovery Timeline

  1. Days 1–3: Swelling and bruising peak but are normal. Keep applying cold compresses and use your prescribed eye drops.
  2. Days 4–7: Bruising may start to fade, and any stitches used will be removed if not dissolvable. Light activities can be resumed.
  3. Week 2: Most swelling and bruising should be significantly reduced. You may begin wearing light eye makeup if cleared by your provider.
  4. Week 3–4: Your eyes should look more natural, and any remaining redness or swelling will continue to improve.
  5. Week 6: Final results will be visible, with a smoother, rejuvenated eye area.

How Long Do Results Last?

Blepharoplasty results are long-lasting. Most patients enjoy their refreshed appearance for 10–15 years or even  longer. The longevity of your results can depend on factors like age, skin type, and lifestyle.

Is There Any Downtime?

While you can resume light activities in about a week, you may want to take 1–2 weeks off work to allow visible bruising and swelling to subside. Sunglasses can be helpful for protecting your eyes when outdoors.

When Should I Be Concerned?

While it’s normal to experience mild swelling, bruising, and some discomfort, contact Dr.B Medspa if you notice:

  1. Severe pain unrelieved by medication
  2. Sudden vision changes
  3. Excessive bleeding or pus from the incision site
  4. High fever (above 101°F)
